The final trailer for the animated movie Megamind debuted on September 10th, 2010. The teaser teases the scenario where Megamind visits Roxanne, his love interest, by having Megamind look through the peephole while waiting to be allowed inside (shown below).

Tweeted on October 27th, 2021, by @artist donna Twitter user provided two still pictures of a tense-looking Megamind from the moment in a discussion concerning Dream SMP members. In three months, the tweet received 3,400 likes and over 80 retweets.

The first discovered fanart based on the image was submitted by Redditor Even-Face-1256 on October 28th, 2021, and it included Itou Kaiji from the Kaiji manga and anime series. In three months, the article received 53 upvotes on /r/kaiji (shown below, left).

The image had a significant amount of internet traction before December 2021, mostly on Twitter and Discord, where it was used as a reply. For instance, it was used by Twitter user @ionknowboutthat on October 30, 2021, in a conversation on Halloween, and the message received approximately 1,500 likes in just three months. Instagram user leader of moose published a video meme on November 7th, 2021, and it received more than 20,400 likes and 134,000 views in just three months (shown below).
